iPhone 3GS, the third generation of Apple’s revolutionary phone, breakthrough internet communications device, and widescreen iPod, was introduced at WWDC 2009 and made its debut on June 19, selling over 1 million units.
Apple added the S to the product name to signify its new, improved speed including a faster ARM Cortex A8 CPU, PowerVR SGX GPU, 256MB of RAM, up to 32GB of storage, and support for HSPA 7.2mbps cellular networks. In addition to the speed, the iPhone 3GS includes a digital compass, Voice Control, a 3 megapixel camera with touch-to focus, and the ability to shoot, edit, and share VGA video via email, MMS, MobileMe, or YouTube.
